Welcome
Welcome to the website of Deal & District Strokes. We are the charity supporting stroke survivors, their carers and families in Deal, Walmer and the surrounding area.
***Sainsburys are offering dedicated shopping hours for elderly and vulnerable customers, as well as NHS workers and social care staff. The shopping times are 8am – 9am Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. Thank you Sainsburys***
On these pages you can learn about our activities, where and when we meet and how to get in touch with us.
We realise that suffering a stroke is a great shock to the survivor, their family and friends. Recovery and learning to live with the effects can take a long time and frequently involves a great deal of adjustment. Each case is unique and there is no simple route back to how life was.
Isolation is frequently a problem for stroke survivors who find it difficult to get out and make friends. We provide a safe, friendly environment where they can meet other survivors, their carers and our volunteers and start to join in social activities.
We hold monthly meetings with speakers, games and activities. There is also time for a cup of tea/coffee and an opportunity to chat. The meetings provide stroke survivors and their carers with an opportunity to share experiences and enjoy the company of fellow members.
Throughout the year we have outings to local attractions and restaurants: https://www.dealdistrictstrokes.org/activities/
This website was funded by a Community grant from KCC, we thank them and all the local people who voted for this project at the Astor Theatre, Deal in 2013. Thanks also to Entrypoint who designed this site and host it.
